Education and training

Classes and workshops

IDRE technologists and affiliated faculty conduct classes aimed at helping researchers use technology tools and programs. There are ongoing courses in high performance computing, statistical computing, and GIS. Classes are also being planned relating to the anticipated cloud storage program, visualization, modeling and GPUs. While most classes are currently scheduled in-person, IDRE is creating an increasing number of online courses.

IDRE also sponsors specialized user groups to help build a community around specialized resources.

Conferences and seminars

IDRE works with faculty and researchers to offer a variety of discipline-specific conferences and workshops throughout the year on a variety of topics that relate to all areas of research. In the past year, IDRE has sponsored a Comprehensive Sensing workshop, a series of Virtual School courses on Programming Heterogeneous Parallel Computing Systems, Science Clouds and Algorithmic Techniques for Many-Core Processors. Already in the planning for the 2012-13 schedule is a workshop on GPUs. Check the IDRE Events page often to see new offerings.
